Late February and early March was a period where I was "moving" between "offices". Air quotes because it is how I think of transitioning between graphics computers. My old one had been beat to hell and required repair. I kept it online as long as I could while I went through a bumpy process of getting another computer. I didn't do the obvious thing and head down to BestBuy or CostCo or any other big store. No. I like to get computers from my computer repair guy. Welll.... That doesn't always work out smoothly. The first one I tried was too wimpy. The second had memory errors and was Bluescreening all over the place. The third had Windows incompatibilities. And this one, it's been great, after we fixed *its* memory.

If my computer is my office, then logging on must be my commute. I was starting to think of my commute as continuously blocked. I took the freeway, but there was an accident. I tried G Street, but there was construction. A bridge out on Coast Road kept me from choosing that route. Trump protesters blocked Main Street... ... ...

But I'm here now, and able to go back to work, filling this world with my imagination.

Recently, I've started making clothing designs for sale on Redbubble.

To begin with, I have been helping my daughter with her Korean classes. I like to work her homework with her. I've always been interested in decorative writing, calligraphy, calligrams, etc. Hangul gives me a whole new set of shapes to work with. And, looking at some Korean graphical design work, I see there is great flexibility in the letterforms. (also, from an English perspective, Korean writing is shockingly logical)

And so, I began with some crazy letter illustration, and added to that some K-Pop specific subjects.

With a Valentine's day theme, Leah Jolifaunt of Schattentor provides the Northshield Northwatch cover, "L O V E". Lovely, little figures peck between the letters. She also provided a few internal illustrations for the issue.

Check out the cover of the February Atlantia Acorn. It's a fabulous drawing of a courtly couple by Lady Daniela Schwartzhaupt. "Cover Artwork Documentation: Main image based on Noblewoman with Halberdier Woodcut after an engraving (c. 1520) by Albrecht Dürer (German painter and engraver, 1471 - 1528) Border design based on various woodcut engraving styles."

Also really great is the cover of the February Calontir Mews: Cover: Kingdom 2016 Roman Calendar© 2016, Marie Chantal DeLaire (Mary J. Day). I love the symbology for a whole Calontir year.

There's something charming about Eden MacRae's cover for the February Popular Chivalry from Meridies. It's subject matter is 1370s but the art style is more 1970s.

Apple TV

A month and a half ago, Apple announced the release of a new Apple TV -- to be released at the end of October. That kind of "surprise!" announcement by Apple is nothing new, even though it wreaks havoc on developers like me.

At the time, we were wrapping up one game and ramping up on another. Company management immediately shifted priorities. The new game would need to be finished before Apple TV launch. The programmers and artists all said it couldn't be done. But we're a small developer. It is in our design to be "agile".

The company quickly shifted 100% of development staff onto the new game. And we kicked butt. The game is pretty well done, though it needs some more quality assurance time before it can go live. So... "soon".

At the company meeting on Oct 30, the big boss called out the art department for stepping up and delivering a ton of art in a short period of time. He then handed each of the four of us a crisp $50 bill. I felt a little sheepish -- I am not someone comfortable with being singled out. But it is motivating.

When the meeting was done, and the party began, I returned to my desk to complete the task I'd promised by week's end.
